Fr. Jerome Magat, PSS, STL is a member of the Society of St. Sulpice from the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia. He is a 1995 graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A. Government) and was ordained in 2002, after having completed his seminary studies at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary (M.Div., M.A. in Theology, summa cum laude) in Emmitsburg, MD. Fr. Magat is also the founder and president of the Guadalupe Free Clinic of Colonial Beach–his diocese’s first free medical clinic for the poor (est. 2005). The Clinic has been internationally-recognized, having received the 2005 International Community Activity Award from the Knights of Columbus, the fraternal order’s highest honor for service work. Since joining the Sulpicians in 2013, Fr. Magat has served as the Director of Liturgy and Professor of Homiletics and Liturgy at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, CA, as well as an Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD. In 2019, Fr. Magat completed a Licentiate in Moral Theology, summa cum laude, at the Accademia Alfonsiana (Pontifical Lateran University) in Rome. Currently, he is in residence at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, TX, as he completes his doctoral dissertation in moral theology at the Accademia Alfonsiana.
