Fr. Zachary Akers is the fourth of six children born into a very Catholic family in northern Virginia. His priestly vocation was certainly fostered by loving and pious parents, very supportive siblings, good priestly examples, and a very active involvement in parish life. Some of his recreational interests are playing a variety of sports and several instruments.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Christendom College, in Front Royal, Virginia, he spent three years working in education and formation of high school and college students in Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Virginia.
Since his priestly ordination in 2014, he has been assigned as Associate Pastor at St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish in Sacramento, California. Fr. Zachary Akers is a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), an international Society of Apostolic Life founded by Pope St. John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI). The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the beautiful liturgical and theological traditions of the Catholic Church through operating parishes and schools which offer the Sacraments according to the 1962 Missal and Ritual, in full communion with and steadfastly faithful and loyal to the Vicar of Christ.
